Is "apostolic" just the latest Christian buzzword?

Have you noticed everyone seems to be an apostle now? If you have been around long enough you would know everyone started being a prophet in the 1990's. Well that was how it seemed.
It is true God has been reforming and restoring His church from age to age. And as He is restoring things like the spiritual gifts, restoring back into the church prophets and apostles we often see an excess of behaviour. But remember the other thing God is doing is maturing His church. (Ephesians 4). We are not there yet, and so because of our lack of maturity we often see His people running ahead or even heading into deception, but it doesn't mean God isn't moving in these areas. So yes the buzzword seems to be "I'm an apostle" or "we are apostolic" but don't cringe and throw it all out.
We need good doctrinal teaching on these things as God is restoring the apostles. We would recommend books by John Kingsley Alley on these topics for a start, or search for his teachings on Youtube.
